About Me:
Wasi was born in Kingston, Jamaica, raised in Philly Pa and move to Miami at the age of 15. He wrote his first rap at the age of 10 years old. Wasi became well known and respected in the streets because of his raw lyrics and freestyle abilities. His style can only be described as lyrical and real. You can relate to and feel just about every word that he spits. No need for a pen and pad either. Wasi keeps all of his verses locked up in his head. His biggest challenge was finding ways to compromise his music a bit. Which over time became one of his strengths, and what separates Wasi from the average artist. Now blessed with the ability to still be passionate and sincere to what he knows and believes, yet come across appealing enough to be praised amongst the mainstream music world.
Wasi linked up with Jimmi Hart and Gold in 1997. They met at an audition involving forty to fifty other emcees to be featured on a song with Mother Superior. The three of them were selected to do the song and perform in Tampa, FL as the opening act for Das EFX. That is when Wasi, Jimmi Hart and Gold became close and Wasi was invited in as a member of The Street Light Poets. Wasi and SLP performed at many venues in and through out Miami. This included opening for Wyclef Jean at the Bay front Park Amphitheater. The Street Light Poets are considered pioneers in Miamis underground music movement.
In 2006, Wasi released his first and only solo project Sincerely Yours. Unfortunately he was incarcerated shortly after and was not able to market the project. Despite this set back, Sincerely Yours is still critically acclaimed amongst the streets and others who had the opportunity to listen to it.
Currently, Wasi is working on his new album. With tracks like Put My Song On, this became an instant hip hop classic. Mind Rite Money Match Is loved by both men and women alike, Get Blowed, the street anthem that will be sure to cross over into the mainstream, and his current single, Push up on Me featuring Stage from Grind Mode has exploded on the scene as one of Miamis biggest club tracks of 2008. Wasis diversity made it very challenging for him self and team members to pick the first official single. Wasi is the perfect blend of a gangster and a gentleman, but he doesnt want to be labeled as either. Realer than most is the motto he stands by. The music world has yet to experience the combinations and abilities possessed by such an artist.
