Oleg Gazmanov. Glory to Our Athletes! Vostorgina01 - 1,865 views - 8 months ago
Oleg Gazmanov, National Artist of Russia, is one of Russia's most beloved pop stars, and most of his music is patriotic in nature. I matched his Gimn TsSKA (Song of the Central Army Sports Club) with clips of Russian athletes and coaches.

I'll say this... it sure has a beat!

Muslim Magomaev. Geroi Sporta (The Heroes of Sport) Vostorgina01 - 1,231 views - 8 months ago
On 25 October, Muslim Magometovich Magomaev, one of the most loved Russian pop and opera singers died. There is no Russian alive who has not heard his artistry and loves it.

I did not wish to make a "sad" tribute to Muslim Magometovich, for it would not be what he would wish. This song is in honour of our Russian sportsmen and coaches. It is the sort of positive message that he always sent. He was never a distant celebrity or a disconsolate brooder. Let us do the same.

God give you rest, Muslim Magometovich, you enriched our lives so much.

Spare a prayer for the soul of a great man today, if you would.

Aleksandr Solzhenitsyn. Author, Prophet, Christian Vostorgina01 - 3,133 views - 11 months ago
Aleksandr Isaevich Solzhenitsyn needs no introduction from me, nor is there is much to add concerning this great citizen of the world. Vechnaya Pamyat, rab bozhii Aleksandr. Memory Eternal, Servant of God Aleksandr.

The music is a contemporary setting of the Great Doxology from the Vigil Service by Bishop Hilarion Alfeyev. The version I have did not identify the choir or director, I assume it is the Chorus of the Tretyakov Gallery, which gave the world première performance in 2007.

This choir is from Moscow.
They were recorded while they were touring through the Europe.
They defiantly are the great bunch with beautiful voices but it looks like this group gathered just for the tour. Nobody saw or heard of them after.
I tried to find them and invite for the tour to US but unsuccessfully.

Sus Torres de Oro, O España! music by the Boston Camerata Vostorgina01 - 9,076 views - 1 year ago
Urban photographs from Spain are matched with two compositions from the height of the empire in the 17th century. Perhaps, there should be a "new" Spanish empire... it certainly would block American ambitions and pretensions. If language and culture are the same, why are peoples separate?

This is Part Three of the five-part cycle "Para Honrar la Patria de mi Amigo" ("To Honour the Motherland of My Friend").

From the Halls of the Hermitage (music by Chopin) Vostorgina01 - 1,481 views - 1 year ago
The portraiture of Vladimir Borovikovsky. He was a court painter at the time of Tsaritsa Yekaterina Veliki, and Tsars Pavel Petrovich and Aleksandr Pavlovich. That is, he was active during the time of the Napoleonic Wars, which only ended after the abortive French invasion of Russia, and the victorious campaigns of the Russian-led coalition afterwards (called the First Great Patriotic War in Russia). These are the faces of the élite that led Russia to victory and safeguarded the homeland from the "democracy" of the French Revolutinaries.

The music is the Grand Valse Brillante in A flat major, op 34 nr 1 played by everyone's favourite enfant terrible, Yevgeny Kissin.

A World of Lost Brightness, Part One (music by Chopin) Vostorgina01 - 2,021 views - 1 year ago
The portraiture of Valentin Serov. Serov was one of the Russian Impressionists and was the most renowned portraitist in fin-du-siècle Petersburg. He was known for his bright palette and the lightness of his paintings. It was truly a "world of lost brightness", for this was the final stage before the revolution (although no knew that, of course). Contrary to what many believe, it was not poor peasants or workers who made the revolution, it was Westernised intellectuals who had lost their Russian roots.

The music is the Nocturne in A flat major, op 32 nr 2 by Frédéric Chopin played by Yevgeny Kissin.

A World of Lost Brightness, Part Two (music by Chopin) Vostorgina01 - 1,071 views - 1 year ago
Part Two of the portraiture of Valentin Serov. His famous portrait of Tsar St Nikolai Aleksandrovich the New Martyr is at the end of this programme. The portrait preceding that painting is of his daughter, Grand Princess St Olga Nikolaevna. They were murdered by the Reds in Yekaterinburg on 4/17 July 1918. Molite o nas greshnikh, svyati novomucheniki Nikolai i Olga!

The music is the Nocturne in D flat major, op 27 nr 2 by Frédéric Chopin played by Yevgeny Kissin.

Bringing the best of Russian Orthodoxy, Russian art, and Russian patriotism to the world! Step on in, pull off your shoes, put on your slippers, and come, come, to the table. You are always welcome. Bog blagoslovit. Khristos pasrebi nas!
About Me: "My Russkiye - kakoi vostorg!" is the title of one of my favourite websites. That is the intent of this channel, to bring forth the wonders that the peoples of Great Russia have wrought, and to share them with all who care to come in peace and honest decency. This means that the combined efforts of Russians, Byelorussians, Ukrainians, Jews, Tartars, Russo-Germans, Cossacks, and all the other nations that make up our great people are showcased equally and without discrimination. We all contributed to our great empire, and all are glorified in the same measure.

Let it be known that I do not engage in pointless controversy with "nationalists". I wish to provoke no one, yet, I shall never cease singing the glory that was (and is!) Great Russia.

*************
I have a favour to ask of my cyber-friends who watch my videos regularly. If you see a negative comment on a video, please, do NOT respond. I shall attend to it as promptly as I can, and shall either delete the comment, or make an appropriate response. God willing, this shall avoid both pointless wrangling and misunderstanding.

Let us keep our standards high, and, believe me, others shall take notice! There is so much that is good and positive in the Great Russian heritage that we need not descend to controversy. Rest assured, all egregious comments shall be attended to, and as swiftly as possible.
