'History' did not happen in a book or on television, it happened in real places, all over the world.

The aim of this channel is to show young people and students in particular, parts of the world not always featured on YouTube: The parts where real things happened, where real historical figures stood and where millions died.

Video History Today is the home of video clips for schools, colleges and universities. The extensive library contains video clips & photographs from historical places in Belgium, France, Germany, Poland, England and the United States.

Video History Today has developed a series of USB memory stick Video Collections focussing on the Great War (Ieper/Somme), the Holocaust, D-Day and The American Civil War.

Hello....just wanted to say how much I've enjoyed watching a few of your videos this evening. I'm a teacher so I think some of this would be invaluable to students. Excellent work.

P.S. What was the feeling of being in Mametz Wood? I've heard some very odd stories.

Hi sinskater123454

How do I get to all those places? All part of my 'video from historical places' project. I am trying to build up a library of video clips schools/colleges etc will purchase when (if?) they decide to get students to make video essays.

When I started to go to sites I started to make short commentary clips as much to help me remember what was where. I then decided to put these informal clips on YouTube and now I make the commentary clips with YouTube in mind. (The video clips I have for students are generally static with only the natural background sound: designed for students to add commentary or music and edit together themselves).
