Nobuyuki Tsujii-2009 Cliburn Gold Medalist While there were many outstanding moments at the 2009 Cliburn Competition, the announcement of 21 year old pianist Nobuyuki Tsujii as one of two gold medalists will long be remembered as a highlight. A star in his native Japan since childhood, Mr. Tsujii has been universally praised for his heartfelt performances and innate musicality. Although he has been blind since birth, Mr. Tsujii often confirms his belief that "there are no barriers in the field of music." His Cliburn Concerts debut is among the select engagements he performs in the United States this Season. |

Gabriela Montero Known to her fans as "La Divina del Piano," not only because of her dazzling interpretations of the core repertoire, but also for her extraordinary ability to spin freewheeling improvisations on the classics, piano virtuosa Gabriela Montero was one of a few classical music stars asked to play at President Obama's historic inauguration. Expect the unexpected when Cliburn at the Bass debuts this one-of-a-kind young artist (and bring along a request!). |
