In 2009-10, the University of Michigan-Dearborn will celebrate its 50th anniversary. Founded in 1959, with a gift of land and $6.5 million from Ford Motor Company, UM-Dearborn has grown into an integral part of the University of Michigan as well as the metropolitan Detroit region.
