For those that are interested or confused to who and what Rromane are;

It is believed the Rromane (Tsigane / Ciganos) left India shortly after 1000ad due to Islamic invasion into India by Muslim Turks from Aghanistan.
The Rromane are believed to have been the Indian militia made up of mostly Rajputs, Jats and Banjara. Due to defeat they swiftly made their way to what is now Turkey & Armenia.

The purer dialects of Rromani is still about 80% Indian of mostly Panjabi, Rajasthani, Sanskrit & Indian Persian. The rest of the language is made up of Greek and Armenian which was picked up during their long stay in what is now Turkey and the rest is later European words picked up.

The word 'Gypsy' was originally associated with the Rromane as the European knowledge of the world back then was not as great so they thought they were Egyptian due to their brown skin and eastern appearance. The word Gypsy is actually a short form of the word Egyptian.
Nowadays the word gipsy has become associated with most nomadic groups of the world which causes much problrm with people understanding the true identity of the Rromane. Gypsy is actually an insultive term as we are of Indian decent and not Egyptian. Rromani has no Egyptian or Arabic loan words within it.

Most Romane in the world do not speak or read and write in the English language and unfortunetely there is alot of stuff posted on the internet by English speaking romanticists trying to either romanticizing what they would like the Romane to be or there in much discrimination from eastern European racism.

Religion wise Romane are now mostly Christian but some old Indian superstition or signs of old Hinduism does still exist. Recently there was a large Christian revival amongst the Romani people of Europe and the United States.

Sometimes it is written that the Romane are called Roma. The word Roma translates into English as 'Roms' as 'a' on the end of a word makes it plural in Romani grammar. Roms (Roma) are only a branch of Romane so it is wrong to refer to them all as Roms (Roma).

THE ROMANE / ROMANI / ROMA HAVE NOTHING TO DO WITH ROMANIA OR THE ROMANS FROM ITALY. THE WORDS ARE JUST COINCIDENTALLY SIMILAR.

The word 'flemenc' is an old Spanish word associated with Rromane. Much of the arm movements, stamping of feet and the 12 beat in flamenco go all the way back to India. Flamenco is also possibly believed to have some influence from music of people coming into Spain from North Africa as Romane (Gitanos) of Spain would have come into contact with these.
Flamenco is only performed amongst Spanish & Portugese Romane (more commonly called Gitanos & Ciganos or in their own language 'Kale' which is a Romani word meaning 'blacks')

A famous sportsman who is of Romani blood is the international footballer Ricardo Quaresma who plays for Portugal and FC Porto.
