HI mate, the dialect of Lossiemouth/elgin is english based but there are words which are not decipheable in english! Its a weird mix of Inverness/moray and aberdeenshire/doric. The Aberdeenshire doric has various forms and strengths of dialect. Buchan (Peterhead/Fraserburgh across to Banff/ Buckie and the country inbetween is very broad, The doric lessens a bit south of aberdeen but is still heard into Angus with Montrose folk saying 'Fit Like'? for a greeting. Lossie has a lot of English folk with the RAF bases, as does Elgin so the locals often really emphasize their accent. but often the only difference in lossie/elgin and inverness is that lossia and elgin (nearer to aberdeen than inverness is but still nearer inverness) Use more aberdeen expressions, as do Keith.

I'm actually a northerner and I miss the north - the sense of humour and how down to earth people are - they're all up their own asses down here - though I have to agree with Jaythedevil it's not about where you're from but how you're educated .. he's not a 'real' northerner though and frankly the north can do without him :))) - with that expensive education though, you'd think they'd have taught him how to spell 'Labour'!! Unless he's American of course :)))
