So refreshing to find someone who knows about the HMS Glorious debacle. My namesake was Lt Cdr (A/craft). If Glorious had not been sunk the crew wd have been hailed as heroes 4 landing a squadron of Hurricanes safely b4 evacuating Narvik. This is unheard of aviation feat since Hurris have high take-off and landing speeds and need full size runways. Incredible heroism getting them safely onboard a ship never designed for them. Another untold story of skill and courage. D'Oyly Hughes was worse than a traitor and wd have been stripped of his rank 4 gross alcoholism and neglect of duty. Imagine a carrier proceeding without air recon during an all out war. Totally irresponsible of this thick submariner bastard, who u may not have known, got special permission from WC himself (a personal friend of Oilys) to depart 4 Britain 2 days ahead of the main convoy!! Churchills permission to do so got them all killed as surely as Oilys stupidity.

Toon, how true my friend....Tigers were terror machines, panthers were doing their job, all the work.....and also, just think about it....panthers for some "strange" reason resemble very much in philosophy and shape the T34! If Germans had the ultimate tank why should they half-copy a hated russian one? (sloped armour, turret at the front of the hull etc)....panther WAS a "panther", a predator..... :)
