I am using my daughters account here, but I have to say thank you for the wonderful selection of Tommy Makem's music that you have collected. My Father introduced me to the music of Tommy Makem when I was a wee child. We saw him in concert every time he came to where we live & I too took my oldest girl to see him on his final visit here, though I doubt she will recall it.
Three of my Father's, and my favourites are of course Four Green Fields, The Cobbler and Gentle Annie. However Tommy performed a recitation that he called "The Selkie". It was the story of the seal woman who married the fisherman, loved him more than anything and eventually sacrificed herself to save him after he was caught in a bad blow. Search as I might, I can NOT find a recording of this. If you know where I might find one by Tommy, online, CD wherever, I'd be eternally grateful! |

Tommy dies a wonderful piece in his Christmas album, "Gift of the Tree". I wonder if he ever did in on video. His voice was absolutely perfect.
