Dear Hugh Hopper has lost his battle with leukemia.
Involved in writing on 1st album then joining Softs & composing great tunes on the 2nd, a wonderful collection of songs, a real favourite of mine, then powering into 3rd & beyond with real depth & variation.
Always into the minimilist side of music, with interests in the soundscape, repeat loops, etc, & using his seriously brilliant fuzz bass sound to great effect. A trademark he made all his own, oft copied with many musos paying due homage.
A fuzzbox pedal was named after his meisterwork ; Facelift.
Sadly missed, Fondly remembered. (less info)
