I am familiar with both the old and new testaments of the Bible. One of the reasons I believe the Bible is more than just a book is because it contains both the strengths and weaknesses of the Jewish people's history. There are many styles of writings in the Bible. many of the stories are intended to teach lessons. One lesson that is certain is that God has punished the Jewish people for their transgressions. God has a free will and freely chooses who will be His Chosen people. When the Jewish people again do the will of God; they will prosper and not until then.
