I first heard Larry Gillis and his brother John 10 years ago at a bluegrass pickin in Statesboro,Ga. I had been listening to Bluegrass music on and off all my 57 years at the time, they were the best, they converted me to a full time traditional bluegrass fan,I went home researched them on the net, ordered every CD that they had out at the time and have bought every one since.Glad that Larry is carrying on the sound with a great band.Truly ranks with the best of the best.Go see and listen to them often you will be glad you did.Ole Dog does!

It was a shame when John Gillis decided to stop touring, but what would have been an even bigger shame would have been for Larry to stop too. His music is so full of "Heart & Soul", and as traditional as it gets. With the world of bluegrass becoming more up-town, it is refreshing to know that he is staying true to his love of the old time sound. He is an amazing talent!

. I Iisten to traditional bluegrass because it penetrates into my heart . It makes me feel good . I understand not everybody can grasp that .Their loss .The fact that Larry gillis is not more recognized by the self publisized banjo starz of today , shows the bias of people that play from there wallet not their heart.Good bluegrass comes from the soul,it comes from real life , not the fairytale world of today that new TV shows and new music has poisined our society with. Larry is an icon on the banjo and a steward of traditional bluegrass. The gillis brothers made music that stands the test of time for those fortunate enough to hear it . The original banjo tunes that Larry has played are sure to stand the test of time .
