A space for the videos of The Boxmasters as well as some of their favorites picks.
What do you get when you take the influence of the Beatles, The Rolling Stones, Kinks and the Animals and then combine them with Johnny Cash, Merle Haggard, Buck Owens, Roy Acuff and Hank Williams? It could only be Billy Bob Thornton & The Boxmasters. The Boxmasters are fashioned after a 1960's-era mod band whose upbeat rhythms and infectious arrangements contrast sardonically with the very dark themes they explore lyrically. The tension that the disparity between the subject matter and the music creates lends itself to a truly unique musical experience that could only be produced by The Boxmasters. Started by Billy Bob Thornton and GRAMMY® winner engineer/guitarist J.D. Andrew, The Boxmasters evolved into an alternative outlet for Thornton while he was recording his fourth solo album, Beautiful Door. "Electric Hillbilly music is probably the best description of The Boxmasters," stated Billy Bob Thornton. "But the real idea behind The Boxmasters was both musically and in live performance, it was like watching a combination of 60's television shows like Dean Martin, Johnny Cash Show, all those variety shows, with electric hillbilly music — it's a great blend." The Boxmasters features Billy Bob Thornton on lead vocals, background vocals, drums and tambourine; J.D Andrew on rhythm electric, acoustic guitar, bass and background vocals; and Mike Butler on lead guitar, lap steel and Dobro. The touring band also features Brad Davis on Guitar and Mandolin, Teddy Andreadis on Acoustic Guitar and Harmonica, Marty Rifkin on Pedal Steel, Chuck Garric on Bass, and Mike "Bubba" Bruce on drums.

Hey boxmasters, last time I checked your lead voalist/drummer/tambourine player fucking sucks! Fire his untalented ass. No wonder Billy Bob is always so pissed off, it must really suck being completely crap at something which you have been "passionate about your whole life"

Jesus, is there anyone they're not "influenced" by? Above, it's the influence of the Beatles, The Rolling Stones, Kinks, and the Animals, fused with Johnny Cash, Merle Haggard, Buck Owens, Roy Acuff and Hank Williams. Then they'll say the Byrds and the Monkees (more likely, anyway, since the Monkees was a mfgd-for-TV group and the Byrds weren't very highly regarded. All those influences, and yet they still sound like shit with these moronic songs.

Coming from a woman with a 16 track parked next to her on her bed, and a Dearmond jazz black beauty to her left, typing on the internet about "whether" the man is a musician...THE MUSIC INDUSTRY is in a shambles because Dick Morris has let the urbanite New Yorker post grads running around with the AR title play out thier adolescent fantasies via the hip hop market.....and I think this is a breath of fresh air period. The industry doesn't determine WHO is a musician, nor do bored Canadians. If everyone isn't bored, they'de be listening to some of that great Canadian stuff, instead. Naturally. What a hoot !

Hey William, you'll never be taken seriously as a musician, so don't even bother. Pulling this "don't bring up my acting career" bullshit just makes you out as the douche you are.
