The balloons took the camera from the
Holocaust Memorial in Berlin to Neue Judenstrasse (New Jewish Street). Lift off: July 6th 2009, a little before 7pm.

A solo spontaneous project by Ira Mowen.

(Headphones or a good sounds system are recommended for the full effect of this video. Trust me!)

Our website: http://theballoonproject.org

(Balloon Project Fun Fact: At 7:19 this Balloon Project crosses paths with our 3D Balloon Project from last summer. This time the camera is a lot higher!) Here is that video to compare: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v =OYzAfOeWX0A

DOUBLE FUN FACT!!!: We won the online portable film festival by popular vote! Thank you all who voted!!!

San Francisco By Balloons (1901) TheBalloo... - 2,079 views - 2 months ago
A "Balloon Project" from over 100 years ago.

This manned hydrogen filled balloon took off from Market and 11th (South Van Ness today). At 0:25 you see a row of houses built in 1860. At 0:48 seconds you see Van Ness and Hayes. At 1:19 you can just slightly see Angel Island in the bay. At 1:31 is Lafayette Park. At 1:45 you see St. Ignatius Church (USF). At 1:56 you (don't) see City Hall (cause it wasn't built yet). At 2:16 you see Hayes Valley root tops.

This was a popular tourist attraction back then. A few weeks before this video was shot one of them carrying a bunch of people broke loose and traveled 50 miles before coming down.

3D BALLOON PROJECT with directions in your language. (If I missed any let me know.)

***EXTRA TIP: hold your finger in front of the video so that it is equal distance between the screen and your eyes - focus on your finger. now remove your finger and try this same focus with just the video playing and you should see it in 3D. (also the further back you are the easier it is to do). good luck!

On January 6th, 2008 The Balloon Project took their video camera and some helium party balloons left over from New Years Eve to New York's Central Park where they hosted an Alley Cat Race - An Alley Cat is a bicycle race comprised bike messengers and fixed gear bikers or anyone brave enough to chase after the free floating camera in below freezing weather and through the city of New York. A 50 dollar prize was given to the person who got the balloons and video camera back first!

The Balloon Project is a video project that started with the idea to send a video camera over the city of San Francisco - no strings attached: just the wind, gravity, and chasing it down to wherever it lands.

Since that first day we've sent our "Balloon Project camera" over numerous locations and events across the globe.

As we continue to bring unrivaled aerial footage from unique locations across the globe, we always look forward to meeting new people interested in the project. Once a balloon friend always a balloon friend!

Got a place you want us to fly over just let us know!

Check our website for more balloon project films, aerial video, pictures, news, and apparel!
