Do it! Persona 3 & 4 are more accessible gameplay wise. 1 & 2 have been ported to the PSP but they are "truer" to the SMT style of play. Personally I started with 3, then played 4 - but I think 4 is a slightly more solid game.

I would just say watch the video to see where all the bombs are and then just practice getting to them. Megaman games are all about the memorization of the levels to get through them.
