Strong Arm Steady consists of Southeast San Diego's gangstafied block hugger Mitchy Slick, Los Angeles' underground rap icon Phil the Agony and the ferocious Krondon. Proteges of multi-platinum rap artist Xzibit, Strong Arm Steady are a West Coast hip-hop group who has made a strong impression on the music industry. Having toured extensively, and played at prestigious events such as Cypress Hill's "Smokeout" event, the band combines a penchant for gritty, realistic lyrics with impressive delivery and tough breakbeats.


To introduce themselves to the world, the original members of Los Angeles-based Strong Arm Steady, Xzibit, Krondon, Phil the Agony, and Mitchy Slick, did not stick to the usual technique of releasing an album. Instead, in 2004, they issued a DVD of clips from performances, recording sessions, and the band hanging out, though, thanks to their mixtapes, they were already known in the L.A. area.

In 2005, their debut, Arms & Hammers, was set to be released on Xzibit's Columbia imprint, Open Bar, but when that fell through. Instead, Strong Arm Steady, without Xzibit, who declined to give his reasons for leaving the group, signed to Talib Kweli's newly formed Blacksmith Music.

Strong Arm Steady has focused mostly on independent mixtapes, as well as collaborations with more established artists. Strong Arm Steady and its independent members have released numerous mixtapes; collaborated with G-Unit, the Cali Agents, and others; and have made several appearances on Talib Kweli's "Right About Now" and "Beautiful Struggle" mixtapes.

Strong Arm Steady's debut album, Arms & Hammers, is slated for release late in 2007. Strong Arm Steady is currently produced by Will Blast, Planet Asia, Phil da Agony and DJ Khalil
