Actually, the tx1000 is the model that has the passive digitizer (what we're calling the "touchscreen"). The Lenovo by default comes with an active digitizer.

A reason the active digitizer is preferred for note taking is that it does not confuse the pressure from your hand with that of the pen, which makes fo a more natural writing experience (you don't need to worry about whether your palm is touching the screen while you write.)

The hp tx2000 and tx2500 (new models) actually have both layers. By default, the active layer takes over when the pen is "close enough" to the screen, while the passive layer allows for finger-based operation when the pen is not being used.

Hi,

Isnt the lenovo x61t that you recommend a touchscreen also? Doesnt it have the same touchscreen capabilities as the hp tx2000, hence it would be hard to write on also? The hp tx2000 seems to be very affordable with many more functions and seems like the logical choice. I really need your help. Thanks

STUG doesn't recommend the TX2000 because of the screen. It is just a touch screen and writing on it isn't a very pleasant experience. Many of the people who purchase this tablet use it only as a laptop or decided to get another tablet to use.

Overall, it is a very solid laptop, but a poor tablet.
