About Me:

The funk group Slang was formed in July 2005 for the Golden Stag international festival and won an unexpected first prize. The lead singer and lyricist - Luiza Zan -- won many awards as a jazz performer, among which the two most significant are jury's award for the Shure Montreux Jazz Voice competition in 2003 (Montreux Jazz Festival) and second place awarded by Angelique Kidjo in July 2004 at the same competition. Luiza sang with important American jazz musicians, such as Geri Allen, Bob Hurst, Omar Hakim, Armen Donelian, Rick Condit and also with Romania's most significant jazz musicians -- Vlaicu Golcea, Ion Baciu Jr., Sorin Romanescu, Christian Soleanu, Mircea Tiberian and many others. After the confirmation at the Golden Stag, Slang were courted for a contract by several record companies (the three most important in Romania) and eventually signed with Zone Records (Universal Records licensee) and released in July 2005 their debut album. The SLANG sound distinguishes itself by power, youth and confidence, the 11 tunes on their debut album . The most significant singles on the album are "Vreau" (I Want) and "Lenea" (The Laziness) and they are both supported by a video. Slang gave many concerts in Brasov, Targu Mures, Iasi, on the Black Sea shore (in Vama Veche, Mangalia) and especially in Bucharest, where, in only one year, they gave concerts in almost all the clubs in the city, already gaining the crowd and a supportive fan club. The most significant concert so far is the invitation on the Golden Stag scene in September 2005, closing the festival and opening for Natalie Imbruglia, a concert acclaimed long after the last chords of the last tune. Most favorite band in festivals like:Peninsula,St George Days 2007 Present on the many festivals in Hungary,A38 Club,Millenaris Budapest,Esztergom jazz feszt,Bruxelles EU Parlament first "loud"concert

Foarte frumos !
