Well - Hemavathi was released around 1975, directed by Siddalingaiah (of the Bangarada Manushya, Bhootayyana Maga Ayyu fame) with Udayakumar, GV Iyer, Srinivasamurthy, and others. It has some good songs - "Guhanalli Sodara Vatsalya Kande" (PB Sreenivos), and one more sung by Jesudas.
Gandharva Giri stars Vishnuvardhan, Arati, Sundarakrishna Urs and Somayajulu. This movie must have come in the late seventies / early eighties. There is a powerful song "Narasimha mantra ondiralu saaku", composed by Sri Purandaradasa, I guess. There is also a melodious song "O nalle, nille alle, I love you" shot in the verdant greenery of Malnad region.

Nimma abhimaanake dhayavaadagaLu. Several people like Boothayya, Kunsas, Lok DVG, rprs1983, rajeshkrv, vikrammanagoli, etc. have contributed a lot. I would like to share your appreciation with everyone. The first two movies are not released to the best of my knowledge.  I don't know how I missed the song from Sri Krishna Garudi. I will search for it again and upload it along with Ramapurada Ravana around the 3rd week of Aug.

I used to eagerly wait for some of those songs on Chandana, ETV Kannada, U2, Suvarna channels, but now, we all have them on demand thanks to you. Can you please post songs from these Kannada movies - Hemavathi, Gandharva Giri, Ramapurada Ravana. Also, the song - Bombeyatavayya from Sri Krishna Garudi.

I don't have both "Mavana Magalu" and "Anuradha." To the best of my knowledge, they are not released yet. I have seen the song "Gummana kareyadiri" on the web a long time back, but the quality was not all that good. I don't remember the website. I will try to get them after returning from Europe.

I lived in the US for 16.5 years and have seen many instances like you have mentioned. When I was doing my Ph.D. in the US, one of the librarian asked my roommate wheteher we (Indians) use soap in India. He also inquired about people using elephants for commute and tigers running around in the city! I have no clue what made him think like that. Looks like he has read "Jungle Book" too many times! Some one else asked whether India is full of leppers after seeing "Passage to India." Many people asked another friend of mine whether people in India eat monkey's brain and eat live snakes, because they saw it in the movie "Indiana Jones and the Temple of doom."
As you rightly said, India may have slums, but it has a very rich history. Our monuments are priceless and are meant for the whole world to see and enjoy them.

Sorry for the late reply. I am doing fine.  Thank you very much. When I checked for the movie "Boregowda Bangalorige Bandha" about 2 months back it was not released. I am in Germany now. I will be here and in the UK for the next 5 weeks. I will check for the movie after going back in Aug.
