As a relative new Soukous discoverer I find out there are so many great artists around.

Thanks for this collection!!!! Do you have any idea where I can find CDs videos or anything by the soukous groups in the Central African Republic. I used go see a group called Musiki (or maybe Muziki) when I was there. Also Zokela! Great, great stuff here.

Since 1980 I've been loving, listening and dancing to and collecting Congolese soukous et al (as well as other African dance music). We used to live in NYC, now in NJ -- listened to WKCR fm - Ni's African show every Thursday at 9 pm. Now have lots of out of print African LPs and ofcoruse CDs too now. Have at least a dozen Franco CDs - his guitar (best when buzzy like an mbira) amazes. WIsh I could understand Lingala. Motema one word I know. Saw Franco live in NYC in 1982 I think it was, maybe 84? An unforgettable evening. Just discovered Soukous on Utube and now can't tear myself away from the screen! thank you and others who've posted videos -- these are treasures...I'll return often and will be watching for more.
