About Me:

I love to sing all the great songs from Jazz Age and beyond! AL JOLSON and EDDIE CANTOR are 2 of my greatest musical influences, along with SOPHIE TUCKER, FANNY BRICE, HELEN MORGAN, GENE AUSTIN, NICK LUCAS, HARRY RICHMAN, and others of the era. Here is my press bio: RICHARD HALPERN carries the audience back to genteel times with his stellar show of pop tunes from the era of Tin Pan Alley. Imparting the essence of a wild and witty generation, the charming singer takes you on an excursion beginning in the 1910s, moves right on through the 1920s, and finishes up somewhere in the early 1930s. With influences such as Al Jolson, Eddie Cantor, Fanny Brice, and Sophie Tucker, HALPERN'S show isn't confined by nostalgia; rather it etches a new journey to the future. When he's not singing, RICHARD HALPERN is successfully pursuing a career in film and television and has entertained on radio as well.

"RICHARD HALPERN is an inspiring entertainer whose performance was nothing less than amazing.
His talents often appear limitless. His extensive repertoire and knowledge of obscure and almost forgotten classic songs from the early 20th century is as impressive as his manic energy and whimsical delivery as a performer (In the tradition of Al Jolson and Eddie Cantor, he is salesman of both songs and jokes.)..."
-- JOLSONBLOG.COM

"HALPERN serves as a kind of Neo-Al Jolson host and sings from the songbooks of the 'teens, 20s, and 30s, with gusto and flair..." -- DRAMA-LOGUE/BACKSTAGE WEST

"HALPERN doesn't do (singing) impressions. What he does do, and do well is put across the essence of the legend(s)...A very popular act." -- HOLLYWOOD COMEDY CLUB

"Ever since tapping into the rich and stimulating tune literature from America's past, HALPERN has stunned crowds with his delightful chutzpah and slight-framed yet imposing stage presence... Be sure to see this rising star..." -- CITY VOICE

"If you have the opportunity to see RICHARD HALPERN perform, don't miss it. He's a multi-faceted showman who musically bridges every age..." -- NATIONAL SHEET MUSIC SOCIETY

"This dynamic young 'Master of Tin Pan Alley' will thrill you as he sings and dances with snap and pizzazz... Jolie would be proud." -- L.A. CLASSIC JAZZ FESTIVAL

Thanks for tuning in. If thats the same Robert Morse who I just saw on MAD MAN. Well the only thing wrong with his performance is there wasn't more. It was great seeing him. Say hello to him for me, he's a major talent.
