Congressman Steve King (Iowa-5) is a lifelong Western Iowan. He attended Denison High School, and after college, he stayed in Iowa to operate his own construction business and raise his family with his wife Marilyn until he was elected to Congress in 2002. King also served in the Iowa State Senate for six years.

Congressman King is known as one of the most active Members of Congress, where he serves on three committees, Agriculture, Judiciary and Small Business. He is the top Republican on the Judiciary Subcommittee on Immigration.

He is also the Chairman of the House Conservative Opportunity Society founded by Newt Gingrich and thought of as an idea mill for House conservatives.
