i just got a chance to ask her, she says your best bet is to volunteer at a wildlife rehab center in your area. That's apparently the best way to get the necessary experience and make the connections to get a job in the field. it's apparently very hard for vet techs to get a job doing this kinda stuff, so the more experience the better. check out NWRA (national wildlife rehab assoc) for centers in your area to volunteer.
i feel fairly certain that there's always new stuff to learn.

thanks for the interest in the raptor tech stuff. my fiancee is a vet tech as well. she did a number of internships, with a focus on exotics. eventually, a job opened up at Audubon Center for Birds of Prey, and she got it. There's not a separate school for dealing with raptors, at least not that i know of. She's just a vet tech that specializes in birds of prey.
