About Me:

Hello, welcome to the channel!

This is sort-of a personal website. It's about me, my girlfriend and friends, and the crazy cool things that we do for fun. Feel free to send me a message if you have a similar interest.

Astronomy - A 105mm Meade ETX telescope, complete with Pelican case and all kinds of goodies. I machined an aluminum adapter for it, so I can mount my digital camera in such a way that it "looks" into the telescope's eyepiece. I've gotten some great pictures (and video) with it.

Traveling - In the last year I've driven coast-to-coast in a 200+MPH corvette, flown through 8 U.S. airports, 4 overseas airports, traversed 400 miles in the Gulf of Mexico on board a ship, and driven from Princeton NJ to Houston TX in my car. (ADD...and flew to Ontario, CA in a Boeing 737 just to fly back the next day in my friend's Cessna 210).

Reptiles - I recently caught a 6-foot Black Rat Snake at a rock quarry in the Eastern U.S. Caught several Diamondback and Broadband Water Snakes, Ribbon snakes, a Copperhead, and like 20 Red Eared Slider turtles.

Energetic chemistry - I have been known to do a little backyard "experimenting" from time to time. High energy density materials absolutely fascinate me. To quote a good friend of mine, "It's amazing to think that some molecules want to jump off of themselves at 20,000 feet per second."

High Speed Photography - Taking pictures of bullets in flight with a highly specialized spark gap. I recently found a way to make 4kV arc more than 4 inches, to produce a light pulse of less than 300nS in duration. I use laser triggering and analog amplifiers to sense the event and start a delay timer.

Tesla Coils - I've built them from 1" to 60' arcs. Yes, that's no typo. Sixty foot arcs.

High Voltage - I recently rectified the output of a Tesla Coil using a 60-diode string of 100nS 20kV diodes. I estimate the DC output voltage of the device to be more than 0.5MVDC (half a Megavolt). It's scary, the entire room crackles with static when I turn this thing on.

Pulsed Power - Exploding cans and quarters with monster capacitors. It's fun.

GUNS - A blued Savage 93R17 with 4.5-14 x 40 Nikon scope, Harris bipod, and sling. Also, an all-stainless custom PPK chambered in .380ACP. Don't approach me or my friends with a weapon, I'm Ted Nugent...

Rock Climbing - Long, medium-grade multi-pitch sport routes with beautiful scenery and the Earth far below. Hmmm...I'm really missing Red Rocks, NV and I was only there for a week ; (

Thanks for visiting! I apologize that commenting is disabled, due to large numbers of armchair scientists telling me what they don't like about my videos.

This was the first-ever Solid-State Tesla Coil to sell on Ebay. It utilizes a half-bridge of IRF840 MOSFETs, 170VDC bus voltage, and a tiny 20-gau...   more

The 170mph is an estimate from several r/c pilots at the field (2 of them jet pilots), and also a direct comparison to Sakis' other plane which we ...   more
