Contemporary dance and quirky films take center stage on Saturday, February 28 at 8:00P.M. with BodyVox, a company known for its athleticism, striking imagery and a comic bent. BodyVox brings a unique voice to the stage through a blend of dance and award-winning short films. The Oregonian describes the troupe as "...the company that hooks audiences on the pleasure of movement and breaks down the walls of fear that keep ordinary people from buying tickets to most dance events."
Music:
Presented with the International Violin Competition of Indianapolis, Quartetto Gelato performs on Sunday, October 26 at 7:00P.M. Classical yet eclectic, Quartetto Gelato thrills its audiences with the mastery of six instruments and offers the unexpected bonus of a brilliant operatic tenor. With a performance repertoire that includes classical masterworks, operatic arias and sizzling tangos, gypsy and folk songs, the group appeals to traditional and non-traditional classical audiences alike.
Take a break from turkey and the holiday shopping rush and spend an evening with recording artist and Star Search winner, Sam Harris, on Saturday, November 29 at 8:00 p.m. Sam's will be a Christmas show like no other, because he doesn't just stand up and sing Christmas carols. Sam combines great showmanship, humor, soul and a legendary voice that prompted Liza Minnelli to call Sam "the greatest entertainer of our time -- bar none!"
On Saturday, January 17, 2009 at 8:00 p.m., John Mueller's "The Winter Dance Party" comes to town. This show is the official live and authentic re-creation of the final tour by Buddy Holly, Ritchie Valens and the Big Bopper (featuring the Big Bopper's own son paying tribute to his father!) The performance will be full of unbridled, high voltage entertainment featuring That'll Be The Day, Peggy Sue, La Bamba, Chantilly Lace and many more! The concert celebrates the 50th anniversary of "the day the music died."
The season closes on Saturday, April 18 at 8:00P.M. with a popular favorite, Riders In The Sky. For thirty years, Riders In The Sky have been keepers of the flame passed on by the Sons of the Pioneers, Gene Autry and Roy Rogers, reviving and revitalizing the genre. While remaining true to the integrity of Western music, they have themselves become modern-day icons with their own legendary wacky humor and way-out Western wit. The concert is a benefit performance for Bosma Enterprises, a non-profit that enhances opportunities for individuals who are blind or visually impaired.
