One shot music video - a whopping 7 months in post for all sorts of irrelevant reasons - but here it is! Rehearsed on one day, shot the next. Shot in HD, so hit the little button!

We were really grateful to have so many extras turn up, hopefully we found a place for all of you! (We were just making it up as we went along!)

Tech Specs: Shot on EX3 (owned and operated by Camera guru Mike Nelson), used the AR Revolution Steadycam rig (owned and operated by steadycam guru Martin Stacey). Stage lighting by Marcus McShane from Grousse Lighting (awesome team!)

Lots of people who kindly donated equipment and time - thank you all for supporting New Zealand music!

Directed by Shahir Daud
Production: Shivali Gulab, Dylan Galletly, Cam Williams

How Shivali and Shahir Met plus some Wedding footage (HD) Parapraxis30 - 2,179 views - 7 months ago
A video I made to be played at our wedding when people arrived. I've added on some footage and photos from the night at the end as well. (footage is in HD, so click the little 'Watch in HD' button)

A huge thank you to everyone who helped organise the event, and to everyone who attended - you all made it an incredible night for us. To people who couldn't make it - we really missed having you there, but would love to catch up with you all some time soon - Shivali and Shahir

(For the geeks out there, the video was shot on the Sony EX1 camera - at 720p with a Letus Extreme adaptor and Nikkor lenses. Our photographer was Rob Driessen, and videographers were cameramen extraordinaires Rico Humphreys and Mark Hutchings - edited on Adobe Premiere, motion graphics in Adobe After Effects, some stock material from Andrew Kramers fantastic collection on videocopilot.net. Music from Jon Brion's Punch Drunk Love soundtrack and The Ruby Sun's Sea Lion - which is the best album of 2008)

Better By Design - Close Up Parapraxis30 - 919 views - 1 year ago
Cool collaborative video I edited and animated with Damien Christie of Close up. Tried to come up with a graphic visual design to try and focus attention to the central story point - design driven development. Lots of After Effects

Bodil and Alycia - 48 Hour Film Entrant 2005 Parapraxis30 - 242 views - 1 year ago
Ahh - famously missed the deadline by 3 seconds. Painful experience because the film was such a great experience to make. We didn't really have the script worked out till we started shooting, and didn't have and actually shot 3 different endings. Chaotic, but it all came together on the last day into a very sweet little film that I quite like. If it wasn't for that taxi that wouldn't get out of our way on Devon street!
Genre: Fairy Tale
Character: Bodil Derezny (Animal Lover)
Dialogue: "Please don't do that"
Prop: Banana

Steam Trains - Close Up Parapraxis30 - 418 views - 1 year ago
Great little video I had a lot of fun making - was essentially given free reign to edit steam train footage into anything I wanted, and decided to pay homage to silent films (Buster Keaton's The General is a personal fav). Nominated and winner of 2006 Qantas Television Award for best news and current affairs editing.

Forbidden Fury - 48 Hour Film 2004 Parapraxis30 - 1,534 views - 1 year ago
48 Hour Film Finalist - 2004.
Genre: Kung Fu
Elements Required
Character: Terry Spears (Model)
Dialogue: Just put that down, nice and easy
Prop: Doll.
Written/Directed/Edited in 48 Hours - I had an amazing team to work with - they all pulled out amazing work - unfortunately didn't get past just being a finalist, but a lot of fun to make.

The Film Report Parapraxis30 - 442 views - 1 year ago
A project I sweated over for months at TVNZ. Almost made it to air on the Breakfast show, but didn't for a host of strange reasons. Yes thats me as the presenter in this sample video, and yes, its very very cringe inducing. But I would have loved to work on this as its all about my favourite subject - cinema. Little hard to watch sometimes because of how close it came to being a reality, but c'est la vie.

Fat Boy Parapraxis30 - 1,508 views - 1 year ago
Short film I wrote, directed and edited many years ago. Still learning, and made a lot of mistakes, but shot with a full crew on super-16mm. I cringe a little looking at it now, but you can't take it back! Just wanted to make a fun little short film for an audience to enjoy. So - enjoy!
