"Life is for Living"
Crazy camels, dust storms and days spent chasing wayward sheep; this is the life of a shepherd on the bleak and windswept Kazakh steppes and it is all young Asa dreams about.
After completing his naval service, Asa travels back to the Hunger steppe where his sister and her shepherd husband live a nomadic life. Although eager to care for a flock of his own, Asa is told he must get married before he can become a fully-fledged shepherd.
His one and only hope for marriage on the deserted steppe is Tulpan, the beautiful daughter of another shepherd family. Asa is disappointed to learn that Tulpan doesnt like him because she thinks his ears are too big, but he doesnt give up! Instead, he continues to dream of a life that may not be possible...
Polished, funny and utterly charming, Kazakhstan director Sergey Dvortsevoy's first feature film tells of a family not only surviving but also relishing the harsh life of nomad shepherds on a barren landscape.

Academy Award nominee Kristin Scott Thomas (The English Patient, Gosford Park) gives the performance of her career in the highly acclaimed drama Ive Loved You So Long. This extraordinary debut feature by award-winning novelist Philippe Claudel is a profoundly touching and thought-provoking story of familial struggles and redemption, and a captivating exploration of the courage it takes to rebuild a broken life.
Scott Thomas stars as Juliette, a distant and withdrawn woman with a hard shell. After being away for many years she has returned home to stay with her younger sister Lea (Elsa Zylberstein) who is seemingly her polar opposite. Indeed, the two sisters are barely more than strangers, as for 15 years the rejected Juliette has had no ties with her relations, and she knows nothing of Leas family or busy life.
Still, its a cautiously happy reunion. The two siblings slowly begin to rebuild their relationship, and Juliette does her best to carry on with the everyday; searching for a job, entertaining her nieces, swimming at the local pool, even developing a friendship with one of Leas colleagues - albeit one she keeps at arms length.
But everyone has questions.
Just where has this beautiful and elusive woman been hiding for so long, and what has she been doing? As circumstances surrounding Juliettes long absence gradually unfold, painful secrets are brought to the surface and threaten to devastate her life all over again...
Heralded as a critical and audience favourite at some of the worlds most prestigious international film festivals, Ive Loved You So Long was a break-out box office success upon its release in the UK, USA and France. The masterful manner with which Claudel weaves his tale, combined with incandescent and revelatory performances by Scott Thomas and Zylberstein, culminates in a truly memorable cinema experience that challenges, resonates and inspires.
