Times are tough enough but Open Door Missions kitchen has been hit TWICE!!
According to Candace Gregory, President/CEO, More people than ever are coming to us for help. Not only are we feeding hungry and homeless men, women, and children, each day families living in their own homes are coming to us for meals to help supplement their income. We cant turn them away!
Open Door Missions pantry shelves are at an all-time low. With a 46% increase in the number of people being served each day, approximately 1,500 meals, the food supply is dangerously low. Individual and food drive donations have dropped off, and the need is URGENT.
We are hoping that when the community hears about our need, they will respond. Whether its a few nonperishable items, or a food drive that results in a truck load, it will help, says Gregory.
In addition to the food crisis, Open Door Mission needs more plastic serving trays. We run out of trays before everyone is served. If there is a school or other organization that has extra serving trays, please call us at (402) 422-1111. Well send someone out to pick them up.
With colder temperatures on the way and winter fast approaching, thousands in the Heartland are in need of help. Open Door Mission remains committed to providing Hope for the Hungry, Hope for the Holidays.
