Sorry I haven't responded to your link to the Borges story. I'm really interested in his work, I just haven't had a chance to read it yet.

That's great about Burroughs. I hope you enjoy it. I'd like to read the entire Nova Trilogy at some point. I'm currently reading "Tropic of Cancer" by Henry Miller. It's achingly beautiful, at parts. It has that odd, irreverent sort of American virility in addition to some beautiful surrealist poetic imagery. It's also very philosophical at points. It tends to meander a bit at times, but I still love it thus far. I'm almost finished with it.

Did you ever finish reading that 2666 novel? They had it at my local bookstore in this three book box set. It looks interesting. I might try to read it at some point.

I seriously, seriously need to buy some more of his books. They're fairly short most of the time and full of more wisdom and potent quotables than their length would suggest. I did read a short story that he wrote that is posted on this old website devoted to him. It was a nice little bit of prose, very indicative of a human side to him. It's interesting that you'd note that bit about TMV becoming more guitar-oriented. The guitar playing also seemed to be more "riff" and chord based, and less about the interesting dissonant melodies that Omar used to assault us with. I'm starting to flow toward the "pre-Amputechture" crowd, the more I think about the band.

Thanks for the new Volta videos. Those are a few that I haven't seen from that great era. If only the guitar was a little louder. Whoever their sound man is really needs to get a brick thrown at him. They have sound problems in every vid I see and when I saw them live you could barely hear the guitar until halfway through as well.

Love your favourites; I'm a Blixa-lover with Cave leanings. Best when together.
