Biodiesel is a domestic, renewable fuel for diesel engines derived from natural oils like soybean oil. It is better for our environment than petroleum diesel because it has lower emissions. And since biodiesel is made in the U.S., its use decreases our dependence on foreign oil while contributing to the American economy.

The National Biodiesel Board (NBB) is the national trade association representing the biodiesel industry in the U.S. Founded in 1992 by state soybean commodity groups, it has since developed into a feedstock neutral, comprehensive association, coordinating with industry, government, and academia. Membership is comprised of state, national, and international feedstock and feedstock processor organizations, biodiesel suppliers, fuel marketers and distributors, as well as technology providers.

Do we realy want to fuel our cars from our mountaintops? Plug them into a global warming 18% efficient coal fired powerplant for 6 hours to go 20 miles? WHEN we could be driving CLEAN DIESELS that go 600 miles on 10 gallons of oil while being regular cars, not golf carts. I think a part of the canpaign should make the electric car peoples opinions moot.

Furthermore, biodiesel comes from a diverse array of raw material, which offers unique opportunities for expansion and growth of the overall base of materials from which biodiesel can be made. We fully support development in this area and fund research to ensure we can extend our supply of sustainable oils and fats for the future. Biodiesel creates green collar jobs, reduces pollution and contributes to domestic energy securityit truly is a win-win-win.

Thanks for expressing your concerns. Sounds like you have fallen victim to a common misconception perpetuated by the large food companies, trying to justify their huge profits by blaming biofuels for higher food prices. The truth is that biodiesel made from soybean oil has a POSITIVE impact on the food supply. The reason is that increasing demand for soybean oil through biodiesel decreases the price of soybean meal. Soybean meal is the protein that feeds livestock in our food supply. So soy biodiesel actually makes food cheaper than it otherwise would be. Think about it. No one lives off of soybean oil which is used in salad dressing, mayonnaise and french fries. But people do live off of plant protein and meat. Biodiesel leaves virtually all of the protein in the food supply, and makes it cost less than it otherwise would.

how many people will starve to death so we can feel good about using biodeisel instead of oil and or other renewable resourses like wind and solar?? How many people are you all willin to kill so you can feel good about lowering gree house gasses?? There has to be a better way. People need food and we need jobs delivering this food.
