An Army psychiatrist who opened fire at Fort Hood, Texas, killing 12 people and wounding 31 others, was shot but captured alive, military officials said late Thursday.
The gunman, identified as Maj. Nidal Malik Hasan, was wounded at the scene but was captured alive and was in stable condition, Lt. Gen. Robert W. Cone, commanding general of the Armys III Corps, said at a press conference late Thursday.
Eleven of the victims died at the scene, military officials said. A 12th died later at a hospital, NBC station KCEN-TV of Waco reported. Cone said that most of those who were shot were military but two were civilians.

I believe were aware and observed the recent provocative and inciting actions which were flashed to our eyes clearly. The police arrested 16 Hindraf supporters at candlelight march in KL. Can you able to justify the police imprudent actions with your own standings? We need to condemn with the strongest possible terms the barbaric act displayed by the police on Saturday during our candlelight solidarity vigil. The act by the police on Saturday was a sign of a regime under pressure.
The police reactions towards Hindraf supporters results in arrogance, desperation, frustration and political malnourishment. Theyre bullying innocent Indians but not blaming Malay activists who were rudely behaved during the cow-head demo.
To the ruling government, Hindraf is more of a threat to their existence compared to the some barbaric Malays into violent and issuing seditious statements to incite and inflame racial discord by the very conditions created by the system. To prove this, Hindraf has been voicing and sending thousands of memorandums to the Umno led BN government for resolutions, yet when we conduct peaceful rallies carrying posters, flowers and candles, our supporters are assaulted, charged and even detained under ISA.
The police themselves, most of them Malays are showing double standard and fascist attitude against suffering and oppressed Indian population. We however as Hindraf view the role of the police in communities as helpers of the vulnerable and protectors of the community as a whole, and not protectors of an elite at the expense of the majority.

Officers from the Malaysian Communication and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) have again visited independent news portal Malaysiakini today to further investigate the deemed offensive cow-head videos.
The seven-member MCMC team, which included three digital forensics experts, demanded Malaysiakini to hand over the original tapes of the two videos.
Malaysia is going the path seen in a Communist state.

The total solar eclipse on the 22nd of July 2009 will be the longest of the 21st century. Lasting over six and a half minutes at the maximum duration (in the same Saros as the long 1991 eclipse). Starting in India along the western shore near Surat the path of the shadow heads towards Butan touching the southern tip of Nepal and the northern edge of Bangladesh. The eclipse passes over the Chinese cities of Chengdu, Suining, Chonging, Wuhan, Xiaogan, Hangzhou, and Shanghai by which time the duration of the eclipse is over five minutes of totality. Leaving Shanghai the path continues into the ocean encountering islands such as Toshima and Akusaki south of Japan and eventually the Marshall islands.
The maximum eclipse duration of 6 minutes and 43 seconds occurs far off the coast in the Pacific Ocean.
