Surely no conductor is as misrepresented by his recorded legacy as the great Otto Klemperer, here we get a glimpse of the bold modernist that startled, shocked and amazed the Weimar Republic at the Kroll Opera - the 63 year old Klemperer leaves Toscanini, Kleiber and a good deal of the HIP crowd in the dust with this stunningly fiery live broadcast of Figaro, we can only hope this gem will be released by another label that doesn't decide to filter out all the noise and half the music.
