This series of videos provides an overview of the 24 hour design challenge event held at the National College of Art and Design in February '09. This design challenge event was organised by the Design Ethics Group and focused on socially responsible design. The strategic goal was to generate viable ideas that could potentially solve clearly identified problems. 65 cross-sector multidisciplinary participants investigated the role of design in addressing specific issues. 8 international experts introduced 6 related ethical design themes and set a variety of design challenges. One intended output was to create a more appropriate organisational cross-sector platform for collaborative design research partnerships between academia, industry and the community. This event embraced the philosophy of the creative commons model. Please see www.ncad24hourdesignchallenge.com and the Design Ethics Group blog on www.linkedin.com for further information.
