Name: Clive
Age: 79
Retired engineer and non-retired New Orleans jazz fan
City: Hunstanton, Norfolk
Country: United Kingdom
Interests and Hobbies: Maintaining a quiet life, wallowing in my memories and making sure that the sounds of the New Orleans Revival in the U.K. are on record on YouTube. To say nothing of the songs I learned at my Mother's knee. (And other low joints!)
Music: All real jazz from the 1920's to the N.O. revival period in the 1940's/50's (and onwards).

Good to know that us old figs are still about and still enjoying the early jazz. I don't suppose you have Golden Leaf Strut by NORK have you? It is Milenberg Joys under another name if I remember correctly, and had Paul Mares on cornet and Santo Pecora on valve trombone. I forget who the others were but I'm pretty sure it wasn't Leon Rapplolo on clarinet. I had it on a 45 rpm disc when I was a lad, but it seems to have vanished. The other side was She's Cryin' for Me.

common knowledge has it that bessie smith was born in 1894, not 1895.

Thanks for your posting of Sleepy John! I am interested in the music of Eddie Cochran. His biographer, Darrel Higham, credits Sleepy John with writing the Milk Cow Blues, but I find most sources cite Kokomo Arnold as the originator. Do you have any insight on this? Did you see Eddie on his UK tour in 1960? Eddie's cover sounds very similar to the version done by Bob Wills and the Texas Playboys. The covers done by the Kinks and Arrowsmith sound quite different. Would appreciate some feedback. Thanks!
