That very thing would have probably made it easy to get Orson for a cameo role back then-- It took him forever to finish OTHELLO, because he'd shoot a little, run out of money, do something else to finance it, shoot a little more... Must have been tough to be a maverick with the old studio system.

I wouldn't replace Gene Barry with anyone as the stalwart young scientist hero of WAR OF THE WORLDS, but Vincent Price as one of the other scientists trying to figure out the martians, and a cameo from Orson Welles as a radio reporter would have kicked ass! ;)
