Larry Nix Interview - LNix Mastering Cutting Vinyl Again! MemphisMe... - 154 views - 1 month ago
Larry Nix, proprietor of LNix Mastering in Memphis, Tennessee, announces the availability of Vinyl mastering in addition to their already phenomenal state of the art CD mastering services.

Cutting to vinyl is nothing new for Larry. In fact, he may be the consummate living master of the craft. Larry was the magician cutting the grooves for almost every hit cut by Stax until eventually bringing his mastering facility home to roost in the midst of Ardent Recording Studios in midtown Memphis, Tennessee.

In his own words, "I've cut somewhere between 75 to 80 gold or platinum albums on this lathe!"

Will your album be next?

COME ON INTO MY KITCHEN - Leon Russell & Friends (1971) MemphisMe... - 1,204 views - 2 months ago
An excerpt from the 1971 "Homewood Sessions" featuring Leon Russell and a few good friends such as Don Nix and Furry Lewis.

Leon dedicates this song to Furry Lewis at the start of the piece.

Live at Vine Street Theater, Hollywood, California, USA.

"Vine Street Theater presents Homewood"

Originally aired in 1971 on PBS, actually KCET in Los Angeles at the Vine Street Theater on Hollywood and Vine, a theater with a little studio in the back part of the building, which is not there anymore. They shot 6 hours, but only broadcast 1 hour, unscripted and unrehearsed.

It was the first national "stereo" rock-and-roll TV broadcast - that's why Leon agreed to do it.

Billed as "Session - Leon Russell with a Few of His Friends":

Carl Radle
Kathi McDonald
Claudia Linnear

PARASITE - Redline MemphisMe... - 37 views - 3 months ago
Here's the once upon a time Memphis Hard Rock group, Redline, performing their song PARASITE at the New Daisy theater on Beale Street in Memphis, Tennessee back in 2004. Unfortunately this is the only video they managed to create together before disbanding into various sub-groups.

How the video even came to be completed is an interesting story. This video was captured live on January 1st, 2004 by a single cameraman who videotaped the group performing about a half dozen songs. For each song the cameraman would choose a different location and video from there.

Lee Mooney, the manager of the group, approached Another Gulliver Production a couple of months later with the concert footage and asked if anything could be cobbled from it to make a video for the song PARASITE from their debut CD. Always lovers of a post-production challenge, the creative team at AGP (meaning me) got to work editing and adjusting little clips to match the song. Footage shot roaming around backstage was also used to build a bit of the backstory for the song.

The result is what you see here. Certainly not perfect, but it rocks.I hope you enjoy it!

As is so often the case, the group split up not long after. This music video remains as proof that, once upon a time, REDLINE ROCKED!

NOTE: I've since lost contact with the former band members of Redline. If anyone can give me the names of these performers I would certainly appreciate it and post them on here immediately.

This channel is about the memories many of us have accumulated from living in the ol' Bluff City watching local TV over the years. It's also about those underground videos (mostly musical) that you never get to see unless you know somebody in the band.

But, most of all, this channel is all about YOU finding something interesting to watch that might show you something new, or even bring back a memory or two. I hope you enjoy your visit!
