You all are looking at this wrong. The only time it was ever appropriate to compare the two was from '83-'94. Reason being is that while Metallica completely abandoned their roots as a thrash metal band after Justice, Megadeth stayed consistent. Sure they had their "pop metal" phase too, but there was still a huge thrash influence and certain songs that were old school. Metallica at one point was not even considered a metal band, they were "heavy rock". In my opinion, Megadeth is better solely based on the fact that they never worked with Bob Rock. Nuff said.
