Building on his work in the New York City Council, Congressman McMahon is committed to reducing helicopter flights over district homes and businesses. In April, he added an amendment to H.R. 915, the Federal Aviation Administration Authorization Act, that requires the FAA to prepare a study reviewing helicopter noise in Staten Island. He has also used his position as a member of the Aviation Subcommittee of the House Committee on Transportation and Infrastructure to address this important issue. At a September 16, 2009 Aviation Subcommittee hearing, Congressman McMahon raised the helicopter noise problem with the FAA, local helicopter executives, and air traffic controllers. (less info)
