My name is Mark Robinson and I am a Staffordshire based singer/songwriter, heavily influenced by the music and style of John Denver and David Mallett; indeed it was John's incredible voice and deeply moving songs that inspired me to begin playing the acoustic guitar at the age of 14. I was lucky enough to be able to support Dave Mallett on part of his UK tour in 2005. Other musical influences include Chris de Burgh, Runrig and Suzanne Vega.

I was formerly the lead singer in a John Denver tribute band called 'Colorado', and have since performed solo in the USA and Ireland, as well as here in the UK. I have also opened for US star Mack Bailey both in the UK and the USA.

I have been writing songs since 1978, and to date have written well over 200, though many of the early ones are perhaps best forgotten! Songwriting is my passion, though most of my songs usually choose when and where they will be written. They cover many aspects of life to which we can all relate: love and relationships, the loss of loved ones, war, peace, conservation, nature, the seasons, children and home. I often get asked how I would categorise my music, and the best description that I have is "somewhere between contemporary folk, country, and John Denver!"

I currently have 3 CDs -- 'Another Sunrise', 'A Life More Beautiful', and the latest, 'Once in a Bright Blue Moon', with 40+ new songs waiting to be recorded. I own and play several guitars including a Brook Tamar, a McIlroy A005, a Martin D42, Taylor 514c, Larrivee OM09 & Larrivee OM05 and a Tacoma EKK9. I use most of these during the recording of my CDs as well as in concert, in a couple of different tunings, including DADGAD.

More than anything else, I enjoy playing live, whether it is in a small village pub or a large theatre; the 'high' that I feel during and after a show is such an incredible emotion. I usually close my shows with 'The Sweetest Voice of All', a song dedicated to those who come to hear me play; originally written for a concert I was doing for the UK 'Friends of John Denver'.

For me, it's about reaching out and touching people with my music; if just one person goes home feeling that a particular song moved them, then it's all been worthwhile.

Ahh thanks Mark! i'll be there from january 25th till mid June, i´ve checked out your website and am also wondering if you sell your cd's at your concerts.

Hi Julian,

I play just about anywhere! Details appear on my website as bookings come in, but private shows won't normally feature. If you let me know how long you'll be over here then I'll keep you informed if there's anything happening near where you'll be.

I'm hoping that i will be able to attend one of your concerts when i'm studying in England for a semester this january. I'll be studying in Gloucestershire, do you ever perform around that area?
