Brainpower starts to rhyme as a youngster (inspired by Run DMC, Eric B & Rakim, LL Cool J and Kool Moe Dee amongst many others) .In the late 80s the MC's writes his first songs and ever since he has been working on his career as a solo artist. After ten years of honing his craft as a furious battle MC, he wins the critically acclaimed dutch 'Grote Prijs van Nederland' contest for upcoming, unsigned acts in Amsterdam, 1998. Together with his live-partner DJ TLM he wins awards in all but one category (that of Best singer). The Best MC, Best DJ (TLM), People's Choice Award and the Main Prize.

Dropping seven albums throughout the following ten years, Brainpower is considered an icon. Because of his diverse quality music and dedication creating it he has been a top name in the Benelux for years. Yet ,maintaining his credibility and his hard-earned critical acclaim. Being a kid from 'The Golden Age' of Hip Hop, the eighties, his repertoire always captures universal emotions, never losing the essence of - and his passion for - Hip Hop culture, as well as his intense love for many other music genres.
After having had a #1 song in both Holland and Belgium, two gold records, a platinum record, numerous nominations and winning at least ten (!) important awards (including MTV Europe Award for Best Dutch Act-1st Dutch MC ever to win this) plus having done nearly 2,500 shows during many years of extensive touring, Brainpower is working on finishing his international debut album. Recordings so far feature guest appearances by Hip Hop legends like Ultra, Kool Keith, Ced-Gee & RZA as well as NY rhyme icons such as Jean Grae & Shabazz The Disciple amongst others. The album will also feature production by Big Boi of Outkast, Oh Jay, Gaspard De La Nuit and (the Alchemist/Dilated Peoples affilliated) duo Sid Roams.
