For my animation we use After Effects, Premiere, A little Flash, Illustrator, & Photoshop.. And of course a pencil..

Premiere is used for the final touchs to make it look like a high quality film.. Our first episode is almost rendered and it's going to look amazing..

Definitely look into After Effects, the interface takes some getting used to, but with the timeline and the application of effects, it's a lot like Flash...

i definitely think you should start doing an animated show.. if you ever have an interest in collaborating.. let me know.. good stuff though
