As part of Sydney Leather Pride Week they have a Fair Day downstairs at the Midnight Shift. This year was the biggest yet and in between DJing and hosting, I managed to film some of the antics of a very unusual Sunday afternoon.
Keep a eye out for Sandi Hotrod, J Bear & his J Cubs, Sandy Bottom and the very striking Mistress Tokyo.

After his lover (Steve Taylor) walks out on him, a man (Al Parker) - intrigued by a hot photographer (Bob Blount) - immerses himself in the swinging world of sexy male models and sleazy bars in this realistic look at the search for love. Steve Scott's 1979 film 'Inches' explores a central theme in gay culture, the conflict between the need for committed relationships and the ease and pleasure of anonymous encounters, but draws no conclusions. 'Inches' shows you can mix substance with hot sex and achieve some excellent classic porn.

This is a Genuine Erotic Fine Arts Kink Shot in celebration of the life of erotic pin-up bondage model Bettie (Betty) Page. Gone but not forgotten, your memory will live on forever.
Bettie Page (April 22, 1923 December 11, 2008) was an American model who became famous in the 1950s for her fetish modeling and pin-up photos. She was also one of the earliest Playmates of the Month for Playboy magazine. Bettie Page was born Betty Mae Page in Nashville, Tennessee. Page and her sisters tried different makeup styles and hairdos imitating their favorite movie stars. She also learned to sew. These skills proved useful years later for her pin-up photography when Page did her own makeup and hair and made her own bikinis and costumes.
She moved to New York City, where she hoped to find work as an actress. In the meantime, she supported herself by working as a secretary. In 1950, while walking along the Coney Island shore, she met Jerry Tibbs, a police officer with an interest in photography. She was a willing model, and Tibbs took pictures of her and put together her first pinup portfolio.
In the late 1940s, what were known as camera clubs were formed as a means of circumventing legal restrictions on the production of nude photos. These clubs existed ostensibly to promote artistic photography, but many were merely fronts for the making of pornography. Page entered the field of glamour photography as a popular camera club model, working initially with photographer Cass Carr. Her lack of inhibition in posing made her a hit. Her name and image became quickly known in the erotic photography industry, and in 1951, her image appeared in men's magazines with names like Wink, Titter, Eyefull and Beauty Parade.
From 1952 through 1957, she posed for photographer Irving Klaw for mail-order photographs with pin-up, bondage or sadomasochistic themes, making her the first famous bondage model. Klaw also used Page in dozens of short black-and-white 8mm and 16mm "specialty" films which catered to specific requests from his clientele. These silent featurettes showed women clad in lingerie and high heels acting out fetishistic scenarios of abduction, domination, and slave-training with bondage, spanking, and elaborate leather costumes and restraints. Page alternated between playing a stern dominatrix and a helpless victim bound hand and foot. Klaw also produced a line of still photos taken during these sessions. Some have become iconic images, such as his highest-selling photo of Page shown gagged and bound in a web of ropes from the film Leopard Bikini Bound. Although these underground features had the same crude style and clandestine distribution as the pornographic "stag" films of the time, Klaw's all-female films (and still photos) never featured any nudity or explicit sexual content.
After Yeager sent shots of Page to Playboy founder Hugh Hefner, he selected one to use as the Playmate of the Month centerfold in the January 1955 issue of the two-year-old magazine. The famous photo shows Page, wearing only a Santa hat, kneeling before a Christmas tree holding an ornament and playfully winking at the camera. In 1955, Bettie won the title "Miss Pinup Girl of the World". She also became known as "The Queen of Curves" and "The Dark Angel".
While pin-up and glamour models frequently have careers measured in months, Page was in demand for several years, continuing to model until 1957. Although she frequently posed nude, she never appeared in scenes with explicit sexual content. The reasons reported for her departure from modeling vary. Some reports mention the Kefauver Hearings of the Senate Subcommittee on Juvenile Delinquency (after a young man apparently died during a session of bondage which was rumored to be inspired by Page), which ended Klaw's bondage and S&M mail-order photography business. In fact, the United States Congress called her to testify to explain the photos in which she appeared. While she was excused from appearing before the committee, the print negatives of many of her photos were destroyed by court order. For many years after, the negatives that survived were illegal to print.
According to long-time friend and business agent Mark Roesler, on December 6, 2008, Bettie Page was hospitalized in critical condition. Roesler was quoted by the Associated Press as saying Page had suffered a heart attack[12] and by Los Angeles television station KNBC as claiming Page was suffering from pneumonia.[ A family friend said Page was in a coma, a claim not denied by Roesler. Her family eventually agreed to discontinue life support, and she died at 18:41 PST on December 11, 2008.
She is buried at Westwood Village Memorial Park Cemetery.

This is a Genuine Erotic Fine Arts Kink Shot originally posted last summer to honor the passing of a legend, Larry Townsend.
YouTUBE pulled the original music for this video. It was the Dave Matthews Band "Where Are You Going" http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OoBLOs... . This is the substitute music: Human Rights (Teo Moss & Fredelux Remix)[Track One Recordings] (Dan Marciano & Frank Dona), (Obituary courtesy Jack Fritscher) Larry Townsend Legendary 27 October 1930 - 29 July 2008
Spill a drop for lost brothers
Larry Townsend was the pseudonymous author of dozens of books including Run Little Leather Boy (1970) and The Leathermans Handbook (1972) at pioneer erotic presses such as Greenleaf Classics and the Other Traveler imprint of Olympia Press. Growing up as a teenager of Swiss-German extraction in Los Angeles a few houses from Noel Coward and Irene Dunne, he ate cookies with his neighbor Laura Hope Crews who was Aunt Pittypat in Gone with the Wind. He attended the prestigious Peddie School, and was stationed as Staff Sergeant in charge of NCOIC Operations of Air Intelligence Squadrons for nearly five years with the US Air Force in Germany (1950-1954). Completing his tour of duty, he entered into the 1950s underground of the LA leather scene where he and Montgomery Clift shared a lover. With his degree in industrial psychology from UCLA (1957), he worked in the private sector and as a probation officer with the Forestry Service. He began his pioneering activism in the politics of gay liberation in the early 1960s. In 1972, as president of the Homophile Effort for Legal Protection which had been founded in 1969 to defend gays during and after arrests, he led a group in founding the H.E.L.P. Newsletter, the forebear of Drummer (1975). As a writer and photographer, he was an essential eyewitness of the drama and salon around Drummer in which his novels were often excerpted. His signature Leather Notebook column appeared in Drummer for twelve years beginning in 1980, and continued in Honcho to Spring 2008. His last novel, TimeMasters, was published April 2008. This new thumbnail biography, approved and updated by Larry Townsend, is reprinted from the leather-heritage book Gay San Francisco: Eyewitness Drummer which, published June 20, 2008, also includes Larrys Eyewitness Introduction, his last published writing.
=====================
Hello GARi,
My name is Tracy Tingle, and I am Larry Townsend's "littlest niece" (what he often referred to me as...).
I saw your sweet tribute video--so nice, and, on your birthday! (happy birthday)
So, there is not going to be any formal memorial service--this is per Larry's wishes... BUT, I think numerous people will be marking his passing in their own way. I'm in the process of contacting as much of the gay press that I can, and friends, and blogs, and on and on. It's actually been therapeutic...but a bit daunting. The Advocate will have something late August, the Bay Area Reporter in the August 7th issue, Honcho in September... Lots is beginning to pop up when you google his name and date of death.
Also, Jack Fritscher, of Drummer magazine, and his spouse Mark Hemry are putting out a call to leather writers so that an anthology can be put together.
You may be interested in seeing Larry's obituary that ran in the LA times yesterday, August 1st. It can be viewed electronically at:
www.legacy.com/LATimes/Obituaries.asp
Also, there is a "guest book" that people can go to and sign, leave messages, and post and look at photos (probably not the kind of photos that Larry really loved--oh well):
www.legacy.com/LATimes/GB...okView.aspx
Please pass the guest book link along...
Thanks again. Warmly, Tracy
