Saban's Adventures of Oliver Twist Ep 1

"Oliver's Narrow Escape"

First episode of Saban's Adventures of Oliver Twist.

The opening for the animated series Saban's Adventures of Oliver Twist based very loosely on Charles Dickens classic. Not to be taken as a literary alternative.

There is no explanation as to why there are anthropomorphic beings with humans. In the series it turns out that Oliver is not really an orphan. He has a mother but has been separated from her and later sent to the workhouse. In an interesting take, unlike his literary counterpart, the character Fagin (as a fox) is portrayed as a good guy and not a thief teaching younger thieves, or so it seems.

Mona Marshall provides the voice of Oliver. Televised the same time American Tail Fievel Goes West was released. This series is not yet on DVD. Again, taking Charles Dickens classic in a lighter tone for kids series. Hopefully this will spark interest in a DVD release.
