Steam In The Snow - Conway Scenic Railroad (HD) JoMiFu - 2,104 views - 2 months ago
( www.lerroproductions.com ) A photo charter was hosted by Lerro Productions at the Conway scenic railroad during the first days of 2009. I was fortunate enough to be able to make the trip up to New Hampshire and film this rarity; a steam-powered freight train in the snow! Much thanks goes out to Pete Lerro and his crew for making this a memorable and worthwhile event. The cold temperatures were brutal, dropping to around zero during the Night Photo Session with 40 mile an hour gusts. Despite the frigid conditions, a fruitfull weekend was had for all of the photographers/videographers on hand. Hope you enjoy the video.

Continuing Steamtown National Historic Site's annual tradition, a steam-powered excursion is run out of Scranton, PA, in the middle of the cold snow-covered Pocono Mountain winter to Tobyhanna's Ice Harvest Festival. We follow the train as it makes its way up the hill to Tobyhanna, where a reenactment of an "Ice Harvest" takes place. The ice is then stored in the Ice House where it stays frozen even in the warmer months.

CNJ Whistle On NH&I #40 (HD) JoMiFu - 3,442 views - 5 months ago
A replica of a Central Railroad of New Jersey (CNJ) 3-Chime steam whistle was tested on New Hope & Ivyland Railroad's steam locomotive #40.

This whistle was created by Project 113 and will be in use on the anthracite burning steam locomotive CNJ #113, a large 0-6-0 being restored in Minersville, PA. The restoration is nearing completion and will likely be seen operating in the near future.

Also kudos to Dave Haring for the great whistling.

Reading & Northern #425 - Railfan Special JoMiFu - 6,973 views - 8 months ago
On October 25th, 2008, 425 hauled a group of railfans along the R&N's system from Port Clinton to as far as White Haven, stopping for photo runbys along the way. The weather was wet, cold, and miserable, but it made for many interesting scenes of steam working hard in the rain.

Also note the whistle #425 is wearing in this video - the Boston and Maine 6-chime steptop. This is the whistle #425wore during the Grand Opening at Steamtown in 1995. Personally I love it's mournful undertones more than any other whistle I've heard on the engine so far.

Special Thanks to the folks at the Reading & Northern for running this trip (Tyler Glass, Steve Gilbert) www.readingnorthern.com

Pioneer Tunnel Coal Mine & Steam Train JoMiFu - 6,509 views - 1 year ago

In Ashland Pennsylvania, in the heart of the anthracite coal region, is the Pioneer Tunnel Coal Mine & Steam Train. The museum offers tours inside the coal mine, but also operates a steam train, a narrow guage 0-4-0 #1 named "Henry Clay", to demonstrate a different kind of mining - strip mining.

In this video we'll follow along the Henry Clay on its short journey around the mountain.

Support the R&N steam program by purchasing a ticket!

We follow 425 as she makes her return trip from Jim Thorpe to Port Clinton on her first public passenger excursion since 1996.

(I paid for a ticket and rode the trip to Jim Thorpe, but decided to chase back.)

A big thanks goes out to Kyle Sanders for once again providing the navigation for the chase!

Special thanks to Walter Scriptunas II for some additional footage from onboard the log train.

#425 steams up once again with a whole new look, including a new bell, a centered headlight and new number plate - not to mention glossy coat of bright blue paint!

The engine performs a final test run with a private train before hauling excursions later in June.

Special Thanks goes out to Kyle Sanders for helping me chase this train. I would have been lost otherwise!

Also, pardon any lapse in quality with this video. The framerate is not quite what it should be, so it may appear a bit jumpy.
