How to: Quick tip on an alternative method to capturing audio for video IridiumVIII - 339 views - 2 months ago
Youtube user luke01112121212121 asked the following -

" Hello,I would like to ask...if you need a recorder for this mic because i havent camera with the mic input so if i need recorder or try it record via reduction to PC and how it will have quality? "

The answer: Yes

In this video I demonstrate just one method in capturing audio for video.

Items used:

Rode NTG-2 Condenser Microphone
LiveWire GXR-134 Adaptor, XLR [F] to RCA [M]
Radio Shack Audio Adapter RCA to 3.5mm audio jack
Olympus DS-40 Digital Voice Recorder

Aside from all of my rambling on you can see that it's pretty simple to setup and use. Your overall sound quality will depend on the device you use to record with. In this case the Olympus DS-40 captures audio in the .wma [Windows Medio Audio] format. And depending on your device you find that it will probably have at least 3 sound quality profies available - [example: normal, fine and super fine or high quality].
Once you have your audio it will be just a matter of syncing the audio and video with one another in editing/post production.

Hope this helps or give you an idea on what you'll need to do.

**Note
Editing on this was done with the recently released Sony Vegas Pro 9. This update from Vegas Pro 8 has added some new feature sets to an already excellent NLE. One being the Lower Third templates that were used in portions of this video.

I'll Be There: Michael Jackson Tribute blawah2000 - 1,894 views - 5 days ago
As many close to me know, I have been deeply affected by Michael Jackson's untimely passing. I realized just how big a part he played in my own life/childhood and it feels like a little piece of me is missing. I wept as I thought about the overwhelming magnitude his presence had in modern popular culture. It's incredible how far one person can reach out to people. I can't ever think of the time Michael Jackson came into my life, he was always just 'there' somehow and in the recent weeks have been almost obsessively watching Michael Jackson interviews, videos, buying magazines etc, just trying to make sense of the situation and figure out who this man was. I mean it's very strange feeling to have someone play such a big part in your life, without ever knowing them, and now he's gone I'm trying to have an understanding.

I have also been thinking about the affect it has had on his family. Its very hard to imagine such a thing, all I can do is say my deepest sympathies go out to his family and children.

I had made some indications of my feelings and thoughts publicly on Facebook, but felt that I needed to really speak out about my thoughts and do something positive by way of making a tribute video to him. I thank my good friend Chris Kennedy for joining me on this collaboration, we sang this a few years ago together on a karaoke website and it seemed fitting to redo it for this commemoration.

I know the media and many of his fans have portrayed him as a god-like figure, but they way I see him, is that he was really just a man, but he was a great man and that is what made him special.

Michael Jackson will never be forgotten..

Peace

We wanted to get footage in the video, but didn't have the means, so hopefully the pictures will suffice ...

P.S You may hear the sound is a bit strange- I was having problems with my mic, but its sorted now, ready for the next video :)

1st Day Honours-Thank you so much for the support :)

Bloopers & Deleted Scenes IridiumVIII - 109 views - 7 months ago
A behind the scenes look at the making of some of my videos.

My apologies for the lack of HD. Trying to optimize various settings for YT uploads I inadvertently lowered the output frame rate from 29.970fps down to 15fps. Doing so eliminated the "watch in HD" option for this video.

Response: Dual Monitors vs. Single Monitor IridiumVIII - 1,626 views - 7 months ago
This is just a quick response to the video posted by Jeff @ live.besttechie.net

Just me giving some of the reasons I use dual monitors with my PC setups - past, present and future.

1. Increased productivity
2. Increased work space
3. Decreased window[s] minimizing
4. Enhanced application usage
5. Enhanced mulitmedia functionality
6. Enhanced overall OS experience

Views of my existing 32bit video editing system and my new 64bit video editing system.
