This film was frequently on the HBO "Short Takes," which were short films that played in-between the full-length movies in the 70s and 80s on the network. The movie involves a man who attends a job interview in a building, and when he arrives he is attacked by 2 scheming and murderous videotapes. He tries to escape the videotapes, even running down the hall and shutting himself into a room by himself. But they find a way to slither underneath the carpet and continue attacking him. Ultimately, they "eat" the man! As a child, I remember being terrified of this movie. And yet, I would watch it each time it came on TV!
Great early TV stuff... thanks for putting this up!! I didn't know "Recorded Live" still existed. There's another short where a girl picks up an old lady hitchhiker. She gets spooked and leaves the lady on the side of the road. Later she takes the purse the old lady left in the car and inside is a HUGE butcher knife. Then the girls boyfriend picks up the old lady who has another bag. They stop at a red light and the woman gets out and the car just sits there. I've seen a UK remake online but not the original.
How about the one where someone is making a peanut butter and jelly sandwich with an entire loaf of bread and an entire jar of peanut butter and jelly, all while humming a tune? I've been looking for this for a while, I've been trying to locate as many HBO short takes as I can find. I have a few on dvd.
The reel one was also called Hardware Wars, but it was a whole different thing. it can be found on youtube. Type "hardware wars, hbo, short takes" on search and it'll find it for you.
Do you have the one where this lady has a scary looking hand in a jar? I remember it ending w/ the monster coming back for it, then it went to a scene in someone else's house where you saw her hand in a jar. Anyone?
This spoof is hilarious. Thanks for downloading it. Do you rmember another one HBO did in the 70's about a guy who was being chased by reel to reels like the blob. He was in a television station by himself and the reel to reel starting chasing him. If you do have it or know what it is, can you upload it or tell me where I could get it. Thank.
