Son's Carrera Go!! Track in his room GregGaub - 219 views - 1 month ago
We've been having fun with the Scalextric Sport Digital (SSD) stuff for a while, but apparently that wasn't fun ENOUGH for my son. He needed loops and banks that go up walls! He was already saving up, but we gave him the Carrera Go!! Batman and Joker set for his birthday. A week later he spent his own money on a track expansion pack and we were able to make this fairly complex layout. Another week later and we had a table made up for his room to hold the track.

The books are temporary, of course. At some point it will have some wood ramps for the overpass section. He has big plans for scenery on this track in a desert theme (hence the base coat of tan paint) but not a lot of "get up and go" to actually do it. I think I'll be using this as practice for techniques I'll use when building the permanent SSD track I'm planning.

Anyway, this video, as you've probably already seen, is me running two laps on each lane. It's a fun race in either direction on either lane. Should be pretty cool once we get some better supports, maybe some more borders, and some scenery in there. :)

ALTC - 3 Team CTF GregGaub - 122 views - 2 months ago
We had only a few minutes left in the day so I decided to do a little experiment with a short CTF game. The set up was simple. Each team took a nearby tree as their base. The flag was placed in the play set approximately in the center of the 3 tree bases. The game was a 3 Teams game with no shields and only 5 tags per player. If the flag carrier was tagged out, they had to drop the flag (I forgot to make this clear at first, which is why I had to yell it during the game). The first team with the flag at their own base was the winning team.

It was actually a pretty good game. We'll probably play this or a 2 team version during future ALTC meets, except with a wider area and probably set it up as a Respawn game with respawn remotes at each base.

Anyway, this game obviously was pretty quick. Players got tagged out quickly so it was basically a game of which team could be most patient. ;-)

Just For Fun - SSD POV Carpet Circuit Laps GregGaub - 203 views - 2 months ago
Just having some fun with a cheap helmet cam. I took the body off my Scalextric Lamborghini Gallardo. It has a sidewinder motor so lots of room for the camera to sit. After a little fiddling to get the camera mounted, I put it on the track and did some laps. Here's the car's point of view. :)

This is a Scalextric Sport Digital layout on my living room floor. It was designed to have a long straight leading into an R4 turn that becomes R3 then R2 and then into the technical section with a hairpin and some zig-zagging R2 turns including lane changers and a racing curve. It's a lot of fun to race, so I wanted to see how much fun it would be to drive. :)

Unfortunately, you can hardly tell what's happening because it goes so fast, even when I'm going what seems slow to the person controlling the car. The track is also dirty and has some continuity problems because we've taken it apart so many times. Once I get a permanent track set up, I'll take care of that with some power taps and copper tape on the rails. Then it'll be smoooooooth. :) Until then, rug racing is where it's at.

ALTC Game: Pandora's Zone GregGaub - 779 views - 2 years ago
In this game, the players on each team must crack the code of the safe while in the zone of an LTTO Zone game. If they are tagged, they have to leave the zone, so the players must protect their safe cracker while he is in the zone. The winning team is the one that cracks the safe or tags the other out, ending the game.

ALTC Game: Own the Zone GregGaub - 735 views - 2 years ago
A couple examples of an LTTO Own the Zone game being played. The first with the zone tagger somewhat inside a play structure, and the second game with the zone tagger out in the open. In a zone game, the player strives to be near the zone tagger as much as possible, but must get away from it for 15 seconds if he is tagged by another player. The winner is the player with the most accumulated zone time.

ALTC Game: Escort the VIP GregGaub - 793 views - 2 years ago
One team is hiding in the woods, while the other team must escort their "VIP" player along the path. If the VIP is tagged out, the other team wins. If they make it through the entire forest on the path without losing the VIP, they win.

My Lazer Tag Page:
http://ltag.ggaub.com

Hey. As you can see quite clearly from the videos I've made, most of my work is of laser tag games.

Laser tag is a large part of my life at the moment, what with me running one of, if not the largest active laser tag club in the country, possibly the world (not including businesses, of course).

I want my videos to help spread the word about quality laser tag gear like Lazer Tag Team Ops (LTTO) from Hasbro, and that laser tag isn't just a lame kids game played with crappy toys like Laser Challenge, or silly indoor laser tag with loud music, cramped mazes, and distracting lights.

Laser tag can be, and is, just as much fun as paintball and airsoft when you have the right gear and the right attitude, but without the pain, mess, and expense of those other games.

I also put other videos here, such as the fun "Magnetic House" vacation movie, or my kid's sports games or school activity or band stuff.
About Me: I'm a husband, father, computer/gadget geek, Transformers collector, laser tag player, music lover and sometimes musician, leathercrafter/artist, and wannabe movie maker. My interests are constantly changing and evolving. My chosen nickname, therefore, is Flux.
