Matt Pullin's chess videos. Live blitz, game analysis, opening theory, etc.
Name: Matt
Age: 27
I am not a Grandmaster... just an Expert (current USCF rating: 2011). I have been playing chess since I was a freshman in high school. I try to make my chess videos as interesting as possible. I hope you will learn something.

The number of users creating chess videos on YouTube has increased dramatically since I started making these. If you, too, want to make chess videos, you will need:

1) good material
2) a screen capture program (I use CamStudio)
3) a chess program (I've used WinBoard and PGNmentor, but ChessBase9 works wonders and also helps you organize your thoughts beforehand)
4) a microphone (I got mine at Radio Shack for 30 bucks)
5) patience. It takes me about 30 min to make a 10 min video because I don't have any video editing software.
6) it helps to have a computer engine to analyze your content such as Fritz or Crafty. If you make a tactical mistake in your video, the viewers here will eat you alive, even if you apologize for it in the description. Better to re-shoot the video in that case.

I used to have a really long paragraph here about how I wanted people to behave on my channel, but the ones I'm concerned about always view my videos before reading this, so what's the point?

I IGNORE ALL FRIEND REQUESTS. It's not that I don't like friends, just that I don't see the point of the friend system on YouTube. If I like your stuff I will subscribe to it.

I like people who ask questions better than people who post 'refutations' in an authoritative tone (because they are usually wrong and seldom check their work beforehand, missing obvious things like pinned pieces).

If you see someone making such a comment, please feel free to respond to them, because I ignore these now. You will feel better about yourself and lose weight.

See ya,
GreenCastle

Guess what. I've been making some changes to my website secondepoch.com. "Chess" is no longer just a link to YouTube, it is its own page with
1) a YouTube video player w/ recent 50 videos (I can't change that number :-| )
2) a little essay about my chess style - nothing profound but some may get a kick out of it
3) a dump from my personal ChessBase DB - games you won't see on YouTube

I am also thinking of other items I can add to my site. A blog? An RSS feed? I'm not sure what people would use. Let me know via my Contact form if there's anything you'd like to see. There will never be ads on my site, it is like my own personal digs on the internet. Thanks in advance for checking it out. -mp

The Orangutan video was made private because looking back I feel it is not of very good quality.

why did you make beating the orangutan private?
dagharr2 (1 month ago)
what do you recommend for a player seemingly stuck at 1500? I've only played a few tournaments so it's still fluid...I'll even get advantages and not be able to secure a win. I'd like to get stronger but need some help. thanks.

Multiple people keep asking for playlists, but I have always had playlists, are they hard to find? Click the "Playlists" link about 100px from the top of this page.

Thanks for the compliments on HKNC. If only I would stop putting off working on it using things like taking out garbage, vacuuming, or making chess vids. -_-
