As an involved father, I chose to take a position where I could cut back on the number of hours that I work, so that I could take care of my son while my wife can balance some personal, professional, and motherhood time. This arrangement has worked well for all of us. But had I not reassured my wife that it would work out, she would have had a huge amount of unnecessary guilt.

Your baby's first years are among the most important, and free time for parents is seldom and precious. No more regular gym hours or time to go to the movies, and as I write this, my baby is one hand and I am keying with the other.
