Live boxing Peltz Boxing Promotions - Cruz vs Conyers UndercardAtlantic City, NJ - Undefeated welterweight Ronald Cruz, of Bethlehem, PA, faces hard-hitting Allen Conyers, of the Bronx, NY, in the scheduled 10-round main event Saturday evening, Feb. 25, in the Grand Ballroom at Ballys Atlantic City. First fight is at 7:30 pm. This will mark Cruz' first main event in Atlantic City, where has won seven fights, six at Bally's, one at Caesars. "This is a big night for me but I know I'm in a tough fight," said Cruz, who is 15-0, 12 K0s, since turning pro late in 2009. "Allen Conyers punches harder than anyone I have fought so I have to be careful but I cannot let it affect my style. I like to mix it up and so does he." Cruz, 25, is managed by ex-pro lightweight Jimmy Deoria, of Phoenixville, PA, and trained by Lemuel Rodriguez, of Bethlehem, PA. Cruz had a brief amateur career, fighting 28 times in a 13-month period from July, 2007, until August, 2008. In his breakthrough fight late in 2010 at Ballys, Cruz rallied to knock out former national amateur standout Jeremy Bryan, of Paterson, NJ, in six rounds. Cruz has knocked out his last eight foes, including steel-chinned Anjes Adjaho, of Buffalo, NY, who went out in five rounds on Nov. 19, also at Ballys. Other victims include Doel Carrasquillo, of Lancaster, PA, and Dillet Frederick, of Ft. Myers, FL. Conyers, 35, turned pro in 2002 and has a record of 12-5, 9 K0s. His opposition has been much tougher than Cruz's and he has scored knockouts over world-rated Derek Ennis (10-0-1 at fight time), of Philadelphia, PA, and James De la Rosa (20-0), of San Benito, TX. Upsets wins like those earned Conyers the "Dream Shatterer" nickname. Other Conyers victims include New York southpaws Russell Jordan and Jonathan Tubbs, both of whom failed to last one round. All nine of Conyer's knockout victories have come within the first three rounds. Other top men Conyers has boxed include: Delvin Rodriguez, of Danbury, CT; James Kirkland, of Austin, TX; Said Ouali, of Las Vegas, NV; Carlos Molina, of Chicago, IL. Six preliminary fights complete the card. Combat at the Capitale World Championship Kickboxing UndercardMain Card Available at GFL.TV Lou Neglia and Ray Longo present World Championship Kickboxing with Combat at the Capitale 25 on February 24 live at the famous Capitale in New York City, New York. The 10-bout Muay Thai card is anchored by several title fights that are sure to make new stars in the sport and cement legacies. In the main event, Tim Amorim of Sitan Gym defends his Muay Thai 140 lb World Championship against Julio Arce of Team Tiger Schulmann who is the Tri-State Champion. Although Amorim will come in as the champion, Arce will have the hometown fans on his side and anyone who has ever been to an event that has featured a Tiger Schulmann fighters knows that there is not a more boisterous and enthusiastic crowd than a Tiger Schulmann crowd. Look for Amorim to start fast and try to add up points early on to try and take the crowd out of the match. For Arce, this is a great opportunity to gain some valuable experience and quite possibly walk away with a world title in front of his home area. In the co-main event, Northeast 134 lb Champion Andrea DeAngelo of Neglia Competition fights Tara Smith of Virginia Warriors. DeAngelo is a experienced Muay Thai veteran who comes from a great camp and trains with some of the best strikers in the Northeast. Smith will look to change the pace of the fight and try to get DeAngelo into a counter striking match where Smith is being the aggressor. If Smith can do that, she might be able to topple the champion, but that is a big if. In still another title bout, Diamond Watson from Team Combat defends his Muay Thai N.A. 170 lb Championship against Mike Fischetti out of Team Tiger Schulmann, who is the NY Champion. This is another great matchup of champion versus champion and like in the main event, the challenger, Fischetti, will have the backing of the Tiger Schulmann exuberant fanbase. This bout has the makings of fight of the night, so don't miss this battle as these two deadly strikers go blow for blow. If you love nonstop, full-throttle striking, then Combat at the Capitale 25 is must-see TV. This event goes hand in hand with Neglia's other combat sports venture, Ring of Combat, and give combat fans in the tri-state area another avenue to watch some of the best East Coast martial artists compete.
